Syllabus of Judicial Services Exams of North Eastern States

DIRECT RECRUITMENT TO GRADE-III

The selection process for direct recruitment to Grade-III of Assam Judicial Service consists of the following:


PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION (Objective Type multiple Choices)
Preliminary Examination comprises of one composite paper of 100 marks of 2 hour duration out of which 90 marks will cover the following subjects: General Knowledge, Aptitude, English, Constitution of India, Code of Civil Procedure, Code of Criminal Procedure, Transfer of Property Act, Indian Contract Act, Indian Penal Code, Indian Evidence Act, Law of Torts. Remaining 10 marks will cover test of proficiency in Official Language of the State of Assam.
FINAL WRITTEN EXAMINATION & INTERVIEW
1. Paper-I(English): 100 marks (3 hours duration)-
  • (a) Essay Writing
  • (b) Précis Writing
  • (c) Grammar etc.
2. Paper-II(General Knowledge): 100 marks (3 hours duration)-
  • (a) Objective Type
  • (b) Aptitude Test
3. Paper-III(Law Paper-I): 100 marks (3 hours duration)-
  • (a) Constitution of India
  • (b) Code of Civil Procedure
  • (c) Transfer of Property Act
  • (d) Indian Contract Act
4. Paper-IV (Law Paper-II): 100 marks(3 hour duration)-
  • (a) Indian Penal Code
  • (b) Criminal Procedure Code
  • (c) Indian Evidence Act
  • (d) Law of Torts
5. Paper-V (Language Paper):50 marks(2 hour duration)-Paper to test proficiency of the candidate in the official language(s) of the State of Assam. 6. INTERVIEW: 50 Marks.

Competitive Examination for direct recruitment to Grade-III of Other Judicial Services of the remaining North Eastern States comprises of the examinations aforementioned except that there is no test of proficiency of the official language either in the preliminary exam or final written exam.
